IMPLICIT LEADERSHIP THEORY AND TRANSFORMATIONAL LEADERSHIP IN CHURCH COMMUNITIES

Abstract

This study examines the interplay between Implicit Leadership Theory (ILT) and transformational leadership within church communities. ILT suggests that individuals hold preconceived notions of effective leadership, which shape their expectations and perceptions of leaders. By integrating this theory with transformational leadership principles, the research investigates how church leaders inspire, motivate, and foster spiritual growth among members. Through surveys and interviews with church leaders and congregants, the study uncovers the alignment between implicit leadership expectations and transformational behaviors such as vision casting, individualized support, and community building. The findings highlight the importance of aligning leadership styles with congregants' implicit beliefs to enhance engagement and collective mission fulfillment.
