Abstract

Despite their frequent interchangeability, loneliness and alienation represent different but connected aspects of the human experience. Generally speaking, loneliness refers to the personal experience of feeling cut off from others or lacking significant relationships. It goes beyond simple physical isolation to include a deep sense of existential and emotional detachment from the external social context. Conversely, alienation refers to a more comprehensive feeling of estrangement or detachment from oneself, other people, or the larger social environment. It includes sentiments of disconnection, alienation, or estrangement from institutions, values, and society norms. The effects of loneliness and alienation on mental health, social cohesiveness, and personal well-being are significant. In the framework of English speech, this study attempts to investigate the language manifestations and sociocultural ramifications of alienation and loneliness.
