Abstract

Illocutionary acts of trust are specific behavioral acts in speech act theory that involve either expressing trust or asking. This article analyzes the actions and possibilities of illocutionary acts of trust using examples from the literature. Examples include passages from Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird and George Orwell's 1984.
