IMPLEMENTING SUSTAINABLE INNOVATIONS IN EDUCATION: A CRITICAL REVIEW

This critical review examines the implementation of sustainable innovations in education, analyzing their effectiveness and the challenges associated with integrating them into educational systems. Sustainable innovation, in the context of education, refers to practices, technologies, and strategies that promote long-term improvements in teaching and learning while considering environmental, economic, and social sustainability. The review synthesizes existing literature on the types of innovations that have been implemented across various educational settings, such as technology integration, green school initiatives, and the adoption of collaborative and student-centered learning approaches. It identifies key barriers to the successful implementation of sustainable innovations, including resource constraints, resistance to change, and the need for professional development. The review also highlights best practices and case studies where sustainable innovations have led to measurable improvements in educational outcomes, such as increased student engagement, enhanced teacher effectiveness, and more efficient use of resources. Furthermore, the study explores the role of educational leaders in driving and supporting sustainable changes, emphasizing the importance of visionary leadership, policy alignment, and community involvement.
