Abstract

Nepal's education system has witnessed significant progress over the past few decades, particularly with increasing enrollment rates in primary and secondary education. However, a persistent challenge remains—the high dropout rate, particularly in rural areas. This paper explores the key factors contributing to dropout rates in Nepal and proposes strategies for improving retention and engagement in schools. Through an analysis of socio-economic, cultural, and systemic factors, this research aims to provide a comprehensive framework for addressing dropout rates. The recommendations focus on curriculum modernization, teacher training, socio-economic support, and community involvement. The paper also emphasizes the importance of policy reforms and technological integration to create a conducive learning environment.
