Abstract

This study investigates the impact of Geometer's Sketchpad (GSP) on enhancing students' understanding of graph functions in mathematics education. GSP, a dynamic geometry software, offers interactive and visual approaches to learning mathematical concepts, providing students with opportunities to explore and manipulate mathematical functions graphically. The research adopts a quasi-experimental design, comparing the performance of students exposed to GSP-assisted lessons with those taught using traditional methods. Quantitative data were collected through pre-tests and post-tests to assess students' conceptual understanding and problem-solving abilities. Additionally, qualitative insights were gathered from student feedback and teacher observations to understand how GSP influenced engagement and learning experiences. The findings reveal that students who utilized GSP demonstrated a deeper comprehension of graph functions, particularly in interpreting transformations, identifying key features (such as intercepts, asymptotes, and vertex points), and analyzing the effects of parameter changes. The software's dynamic and visual capabilities significantly enhanced students’ ability to connect algebraic and graphical representations. This study concludes that integrating technology like GSP in mathematics instruction not only improves conceptual understanding but also fosters a more interactive and engaging learning environment. Recommendations include incorporating GSP into the mathematics curriculum, providing adequate teacher training, and conducting further research on its long-term effects on mathematical achievement.
