This study considers the role of authentic materials in ESP instruction. Authentic materials—areal-life text, video, and audio in professional contexts—are increasingly employed to enhance learners' professional and language skills. The effectiveness, limitations, and instructional implications of the use of authentic materials are examined in this paper based on the literature review and ESP classroom cases. The findings indicate that authentic materials improve student participation, comprehension, and language learning but must be selected with care and modified.
