Different Aspects of Eye Language in Non-Verbal Communication
Main Article Content
Abstract
Non-verbal communication is a fundamental aspect of human interaction, encompassing various channels such as facial expressions, body posture, vocal characteristics, and gaze. Among these, eye language—expressed through gaze direction, duration, and pupillary reactions—plays a pivotal role in conveying emotions, intentions, and social signals across different cultural contexts. Despite its significance, the nuanced understanding of eye language across cultures and its impact on emotional perception, trust, and interpersonal communication requires further exploration. This study aims to analyze the role of eye language in non-verbal communication, examining its emotional, cultural, and psychological dimensions, and its influence on enhancing textual expressiveness and character depth. The findings reveal that eye language, including gaze behaviors and pupillary responses, effectively transmits emotional states and social intentions, with notable cultural variations in the interpretation of eye contact. Moreover, eye language significantly shapes perceptions of trust, attractiveness, and emotional authenticity. By integrating experimental evidence from intercultural studies and psychological research, this work highlights the universality and cultural specificity of eye language, emphasizing its critical role in both everyday interactions and specialized fields like psychology, neuroscience, and communication technologies. Understanding eye language enhances interpersonal communication, informs cultural sensitivity in cross-cultural interactions, and supports advancements in fields such as education, virtual reality, and leadership studies.
