THE ROLE OF CULTURAL VALUES IN SHAPING EDUCATIONAL LEADERSHIP: INSIGHTS FROM SINGAPORE

Abstract
This study examines the role of cultural values in shaping educational leadership in Singapore, a country known for its high academic standards and innovative educational practices. The research explores how Confucian values, respect for authority, and collectivist cultural traits influence leadership styles and decision-making processes in schools. Through interviews with school leaders, teachers, and policymakers, the study reveals that cultural values deeply affect leadership approaches, emphasizing hierarchical structures, consensus-building, and community involvement. The findings suggest that educational leaders in Singapore effectively integrate cultural values to foster a collaborative and disciplined learning environment, which contributes to the nation’s educational success.
