Muhammad Yusuf’s Poem “Be a Nation, My People!” — Lessons of Patriotism and Unity in the Hearts of Students

Abstract
Literature plays a crucial role in shaping the moral, civic, and national consciousness of youth, fostering a sense of patriotism and unity essential for societal progress. Muhammad Yusuf’s poem "Be a Nation, My People!" serves as a profound literary work that instills historical awareness, national pride, and a call for active civic engagement among students by connecting symbolic figures such as Alpomish and ancestral mothers to the contemporary spirit of unity and responsibility. Despite the acknowledged educational role of national literature, practical strategies for deeply integrating literary works into fostering students' patriotism and active citizenship remain underdeveloped. This article aims to analyze how Yusuf’s poem inspires patriotism and social responsibility, and to propose modern methods for using literature to strengthen national identity among students. The study demonstrates that thematic literary discussions, poetry evenings, translation projects, and digital initiatives significantly enhance students’ national consciousness and sense of responsibility, emphasizing literature's transformative impact. The research highlights innovative educational methods that combine traditional literary appreciation with modern digital tools, making national literature more accessible and engaging to today’s youth. Strengthening patriotism through literature not only preserves national values but also prepares a socially responsible and united young generation, ensuring the sustainable moral and civic development of society.
