National Identity and Globalization: Uzbek Female Students Abroad

Abstract

In the era of globalization, education abroad presents both opportunities and challenges for students, particularly regarding their national identity. This article explores the experience of Uzbek female students who study internationally, focusing on how they navigate the balance between national identity and global integration. The study investigates the ways in which exposure to global cultures influences their sense of identity, the challenges they face in maintaining their connection to Uzbekistan, and how educational institutions can support them in strengthening their patriotism. Drawing from both theoretical frameworks and empirical studies, the article provides insights into how these students’ experiences abroad shape their understanding of national identity in the context of global citizenship. The findings highlight that, despite the potential challenges of cultural assimilation, many Uzbek female students retain and even strengthen their patriotic sentiments, often reflecting on their national identity in a globalized world. The article concludes by offering recommendations on how institutions can support students in maintaining a strong sense of national identity while promoting global competence.
