ED-16 epoxy resin anticorrosion coating adhesion aluminum powder salt spray vehicles Kamchik Pass
Abstract
This study presents the testing procedures and results for an anticorrosion coating based on ED-16 epoxy resin and modified with an aluminum inhibiting pigment, intended to protect the body parts and bodywork of vehicles operated in aggressive environments and rapidly changing climatic conditions on the Kamchik Pass, the road section that reaches the highest elevation above sea level in the Republic of Uzbekistan. Four compositions were tested experimentally in accordance with the applicable regulatory documents GOST 15140-78, GOST 31149-2014, GOST 32299-2013, and GOST 9.401-2018. As a result of the tests, an optimal composition was selected, which showed an adhesion of 12.8 MPa in the pull-off test and a rating of 0 in the cross-cut test. In the salt spray test, corrosion creep from the scribe did not exceed 0.9 mm, and the level of protection was 98.6%, which is a high result.
