Abstract

Natural language that sounds like it belongs in the mouths of native speakers should be used while teaching foreign languages in the classroom. When teaching a language in a classroom, authentic texts should be utilized together with resources such actual articles, publications, recipes, advertising, and the like as a source of knowledge and guidance. The term "authentic language" describes language that is used in its native context. Of course, there are pros and cons to using real texts, with positives outweighing negatives.
