SUSTAINABLE LEADERSHIP IN EDUCATION: FOUNDATIONS AND FUTURE DIRECTIONS

Abstract
This study explores the concept of sustainable leadership in education, focusing on its foundations, key principles, and future directions. Sustainable leadership is characterized by practices that foster long-term development, ethical responsibility, and the well-being of all stakeholders within the educational community. Drawing on existing literature and case studies, the research identifies core elements of sustainable leadership, including inclusivity, environmental responsibility, community engagement, and the development of adaptive, resilient systems. The study also examines the role of educational leaders in promoting sustainability through strategic decision-making, collaborative efforts, and continuous professional growth. Furthermore, the research highlights emerging trends and challenges, such as the integration of digital technologies, climate change awareness, and global educational reforms, which impact the sustainability of leadership practices. The study concludes by offering recommendations for educational leaders to embrace sustainable practices that support not only academic achievement but also the social, environmental, and ethical dimensions of education.
