Abstract
This article delves into the significance of phraseology and literacy in speech, exploring how these elements influence the perception of an individual as educated or lacking in communication skills. Drawing on examples from English literature, we illustrate the power of language's expressive tools. Furthermore, we examine examples of everyday informal speech, offering refined alternatives that elevate communication. The article also reflects on the opinions of renowned writers and scholars about the importance of literacy and concludes with strategies to enhance modern speech culture.
