THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE AND EFFECTIVE LEADERSHIP IN EDUCATION

Abstract
This study explores the relationship between emotional intelligence (EI) and effective leadership in educational settings, emphasizing how leaders' emotional competencies influence their decision-making, communication, and overall leadership effectiveness. Emotional intelligence, which includes self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skills, is a critical factor in educational leadership as it affects the way leaders interact with teachers, students, and the broader school community. Using a mixed-methods approach, the research analyzes survey data from school leaders and teachers, complemented by in-depth interviews to provide a comprehensive understanding of the role EI plays in leadership practices. Findings reveal that leaders with high emotional intelligence foster positive school climates, improve teacher morale, and enhance student outcomes. Challenges such as EI development and organizational barriers are discussed, with recommendations for integrating emotional intelligence training into leadership development programs.
