STRATEGIC HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT IN VOLUNTEER SELECTION FOR MAJOR SPORTS EVENTS

Abstract
This study explores the strategic role of Human Resource Management (HRM) in volunteer selection for major sports events, focusing on how effective HRM practices can enhance the recruitment, training, and management of volunteers. Major sports events require large numbers of volunteers, and ensuring the right fit for various roles is essential for the smooth execution of the event. The research analyzes HRM strategies, including competency-based recruitment, effective communication, and performance management, to identify how these practices contribute to volunteer satisfaction, retention, and event success. Using case studies from major international sports events, the study examines the relationship between HRM practices and the quality of volunteer experience, as well as the long-term impact on organizational reputation and community engagement. Findings suggest that a strategic approach to HRM, with an emphasis on aligning volunteer roles with individual strengths, is critical in maximizing volunteer effectiveness and creating a positive experience for both the event organizers and participants.
