Abstract

This systematic literature review investigates the evolving paradigm of leadership in education, advocating for a transformative shift from traditional managerial roles to leadership-oriented approaches. The study synthesizes findings from a diverse range of scholarly works, revealing key insights into the attributes and practices that differentiate leaders from managers within educational settings. The analysis highlights four pivotal findings: Firstly, the prevalence of transformational leadership underscores the transformative impact of leaders who inspire shared visions, foster innovation, and cultivate positive school cultures.  Secondly, emotional intelligence emerges as a critical leadership skill, emphasizing the importance of leaders understanding and managing their own emotions and those of others. Thirdly, adaptive leadership proves essential in responding to constant change, emphasizing leaders' abilities to navigate uncertainties, encourage innovation, and facilitate organizational learning. Lastly, the symbiotic relationship between leadership and positive school culture is consistently emphasized, highlighting leaders' contributions to collaborative, trusting, and continuously improving educational environments. The study contributes valuable insights to the discourse on effective leadership paradigms in education, providing guidance for policymakers, administrators, and practitioners in fostering dynamic and purpose-driven educational institutions.
